Constanza is a Chilean costume designer for stage and film. She obtained her degree in Theatre Design in 2002 from Universidad de Chile. She then received her Master’s degree in Costume Design from Tisch School for the Arts in New York University in 2012.
Constanza approaches costume design as an opportunity to tell a story through the power of colour, texture and silhouette. She appreciates engaging collaborations and active dialogues in the process of creating ideas and images for the stage.
She has designed the costumes for Don Carlos at the Kammeroper Wien (2018), Le Nozze di Figaro at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna (2019), Undine (2015) and Persinette (2019) at the Vienna State Opera.
In 2021 she designed the costumes for three of the plays that are part of the Komödien Festspiele Porcia, a comedy festival that takes place every summer in Austria.
She recently designed the costumes for Leoš Janáček's, Cunning Little Vixen, which opened the season 21/22 at Freiburg Theater in Germany and Britten's Midsummer Summer Night's Dream at Theater Akzent in Vienna, Austria.
She is currently designing Rusalka (opening in March 2023) and Hänsel und Gretel (opening in October 2023) for Theater Freiburg; Rigoletto for Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile (opening August 2023) and Macbeth for Oper Graz in Austria (opening Novemember 2023).
Since 2013 she is based in Vienna, Austria.
